Science: To Add it Up:

by Matthew Zangen

counting numbers
flicking from digits
in bi-directional tangent lines,
counting time or counting letters;
counting stars and grains of sand--

I'm sorry to interrupt, but I must remind you,

what took off in meter,
fell into verse, then prose,
and may once more smell as sweetly a rose,
by more names still until

The arc between the lines bursts
into shock, arguing
"lines are to be crossed into larger arcs," but

the wild gesture whistles between fingers, so
this may be where the wind already has been and
will (not) be still
since it never was, floating
where a digit can be subtracted
or remain
       divided by        nothing
(re)defined and completed
until proven wrong.

twists and winds like an infinite dna strand. nestled between tangents of logic.
