Storm

by Leonard M Hawkes

It gathers, blue-black,
Heavy, in the Southwest.
Rough edged--
Gray-white fringes
Trailing wisps and curls--
Lingering, pulsing,
Churning, waxing.

Probing to read its meaning,
Its threat, its solace;
Its disruption of the
Monotony of Our Season;
We darkly watch its
Unsure Promise
And Wait.
