Mr. Mouse's Muse by Alison McKenzieMr. Mouse is looking -
His muse disappeard.
He knows when he finds her,
If hes not terribly careful,
SNAP!
Hes a goner!
Still, his nose twitches,
Searching, searching
For the sensation which
Defines his existence
Just a taste
Nay, a lick
And he would be heaven bound!
But his memory fails to bring Uncle Morty
To the forefront.
Poor Uncle Morty,
Lost to the SNAP
In his lust for that lick
And Heaven Bound he was for certain!
It reels the senses,
Turns the rodent world upside down
In drunken, pleasure-seeking,
Teeth-buzzing anticipation.
Lord, but what Mr. Mouse
Wouldnt do for his CHEESE!
08/18/2004 Author's Note: I know, SUCH a LAME contest entry....but it's all my muse would give me!!! I asked for a specialty muse in the CHEESE Dept, but to no avail!! Also, very gently revised with GREAT thanks to Michelle Angelini (I didn't even feel the prick of that scalpel!).

Posted by Maureen Glaude on 08/18/04 at 10:59 PM very cute. Maybe he'll be lucky and be live trapped if caught. |
Posted by A. Paige White on 12/29/07 at 04:26 PM I LOVE it Ali! I'm rather fond of cheese seeking rodentry of late, lol, since I'm so fascinated with Kathy's New Year's Ku exchange. I missed sending you a card for Christmas, but I hope (a no doubt belated, lol)New Year's Ku post card will make up for it.... and the theme is rat/mouse, coincidentally. I practiced drawing a couple last night with charcoal and was wonderfully rewarded by my children's belly laughter and pronouncement that it's the best possums they've seen. harrumph |
