Nikko-Shirane (after the world) by Richard Paez
Nikko-Shirane (after the world) pretend i don't exist (pretend i don't exist) if that makes it easier. forgetting is no flaw - it is survival.
but this i must tell you before my voice fades forever
i scaled Nikko-Shirane today; baptized myself in her waterfalls - (and if i haven't frozen solid it is only because gravity has kept me flowing
only because i haven't stopped long enough to feel the cold) this is where the blood of the sky and the blood of the earth meet
this is the scar raised after the contact of cloud and lava
and the four-century tear that feeds these waterfalls is no flaw, no weakness - it is the beauty that remains (that flows) after the destruction of the world

Posted by JD Clay on 08/14/04 at 02:23 PM Plasmatic poetry, malachi. It eminates a mythological tone without being overly descriptive. I like the concept of the integration between earth and man, both ethereal and pragmatic. I await your final draft. Pe4ce... |
Posted by Max Bouillet on 08/16/04 at 12:40 PM Vibrant and filled with energy. A primal force that exudes power. The images are spectacular and the rawness of the form accentuates the scar (lava) as being beautiful. Great read. |
Posted by Leslie Ann Eisenberg on 08/25/04 at 03:50 AM holy god, this is the bomb, baby! by far the best poem i've seen today. searing and unforgettable in its stunning imagery.... this is the scar raised
after the contact of cloud and lava....a bellowing thunderclap from the core of the earth, granite and molten steel and cold stream... all power and then this ethereal, wistful turn: four-century tear
that feeds these waterfalls....ah, now i've looked at your link, and i understand even more, but i didn't need to see that in order to get the awesome power -- you totally captured it. the pictures in my mind were even more vivid. (bows...i'm not worthy, i'm not worthy) |
