Snowmelt (Upper Boon Creek)

by Leonard M Hawkes

There is a Rashness
In the Land
At Snowmelt:

All Streamlet,
Puddle, and Mud;

And pushing
Upward, outward
Through its
Wet sterility,
Eager gold-green
Sprouts and
Buds--swollen pink:

A chartreusing Mire
Crowned by
Globe flowers,
With Urgency unseen
In other Seasons:

Youthful Progression
Observable in only
A Day.
