Divergence

by T.J. Carver

She lies in wait,
Folded, nervous
Tucked in for her first time.

He makes his way,
Awkward, eager
Goliath grip holds her.

Together now,
As one, passion
They roll through the seas.

Upwards they rise,
Straining, fearful
Caught in the hunter's trap.

He drifts away
Taken, sorrow
Consumed by the blackness.

She floats back down
Broken, empty
The water fills her lungs.
