Epicure

by John Ilotan

When the kids are grown
and gone,
I'll cook for you.
When we're left alone,
with only our two palates
to satisfy,
I'll seduce you
with steaming plates
of penne in vodka sauce,
laced with aged prosciutto and fresh peas.

By candle light we'll indulge
in the passion of home-made crab ravioli,
nestled in creamy alfredo,
our thirst quenched by kisses
of cool pinot grigio.

Each meal will be an event,
a moment to savor, as evening
teases with the anticipation
of succulent slices of garlic rosemary
roasted lamb, arranged delicately
over warm grilled polenta,
scantly dressed in merlot gravy.

Our love will be rekindled
by the music of the cappucino machine.

The unbridled lust of ripe red strawberries
in freshly whipped cream
will quicken our hearts to crescendo.
We'll grow
closer
there'll be more of me to love
and you will love me
even more.

A very tricky poem to pen with all that list of food items. If it is not done properly all those names wld have made the reader deviate from the poem and salivate hehe. But i must say u did a good job to keep the reader hooked by balancing the write.

This is a great poem, Its really nice to have something to look forward to...especially if its something yummy like food. I also liked the line about love being rekindled by the music of the cappucino machine.
