Into the Night

by Thomas K. Hunt

Dark days, blackened nights
Thoughts that cross a mind
Alone filled existence
Visits from time to time

Tangible fleeting moments
Disappear like seasonal birds
Out weighed in the balance
Between feel and the spoken word

Time stolen faces
Missing knowing eyes
Receiving only messages
Mostly just good-byes

Hearing scattered voices
I love you across the line
Photographs in envelopes
Undated, lost in time

Memories among memories
Images out in space
Reappear through my minds eye
Then drift to another place

Some return while others fade
Like faces in a dream
Disappear into the black
Never to be seen

Gone forever
Lost from sight
Alone and drifting
Into the night
