excuse my honesty

by Emily Davidson

you told me that you'd never
fake a smile
that every time you smiled at me
you meant it

but now when our
seperate paths intersect
i'll see you
and you'll force a smile
and play the nice guy
because maybe a smile will undo the damage
you've done
(or maybe, it won't even come close)

excuse my honesty while i say that
you are a liar
and excuse my honesty while i declare
that those smiles don't have me fooled

Author's Note: blah. i don't know. i don't really like it and i can't exactly figure out why. it's something in the second stanza.
