Love's like the Bubonic Plague

by Traci Mabats

Silly dish
you needn't run from spoons
Their dull edges
could never do you harm
(it's the steak knifes
you have to worry about
with those serrated jaws)
And they say that
stainless steel never
tarnishes
like love's great promise-
it will last fovever
Fairy tales do come true
when your world is make believe
So sing Hey-diddle-diddle
as the cat plays the fiddle
And pay no mind to
the poisies in my pocket
We all fall down sometimes

Author's Note: WARNING: Stay away from Rula's mushrooms. They inspire weirdness. I would like to add that the "ring around the rosies" rhyme is a reference to the plague. They would put poisies in their pockets to cover the smell.

I liked this poem, I like the addition of nursery rhymes.
