Vacuum by Teri T Lahmon
In the space where once you lay
The scent of your sighs still rise from the pillow
The weight of your shadow
Leaves a barely recognizable indentation.
In the space where your smile
Infused this room with light
Motes float in the emptiness
Attempting to halo a head
long disappeared.
In the space you once filled
My muscles ache to bear the force of you
I sit listless in the dark
where your smile once shone through the murk
Blindly running a hand over
the space where you once lay
The vacuum yawns
desires rumble
For skin to skin remembrance
To feel you stretching open
brimming over
The space you once filled.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 07/21/04 at 05:53 AM What can I say after Gabriel & Mike...I really like the revision - the sentiment, the way the thoughts flow through the poem, and lines like, "The scent of your sighs still rise from the pillow." Outstanding! |
