Long Distance (to A.N.)

by Melanie A Bennett

I hate the way this feels
This emptiness that I know wouldn't be here if you were...
I hate knowing that you're out there...
Too far away to touch
But not too far away to love
I hate the hurt I am feeling
I hate missing you so much
Here I am...alone...reaching out to touch the image of you
Still stuck in my head from the last time we had to say good-bye

Author's Note: I hate being away from him... Please make him come here sooner... I can't wait to spend forever with my Alan...

This reflects longing. Longing for someone you love in no uncertain terms.

Sometimes there is beauty even in hating. I like this, "This emptiness that I know wouldn't be here if you were..." Nicely done!
