how small we are

by Lisa-Dawn Sparling

We are ants on a watermelon.

Our existence can end as quickly as it began.

One step,

One slip,

One moment of satisfaction,

And it can all end…..

…..or begin.

We are not larger than life,

We are one miniscule speck,

One heart beating,

One pair of hands,

One life,

In a sea of billions and billions,

Every moment precious,

Every second delicious,

Every breath gratifying.

Nothing should be taken for granted.
