Pyramid Lake by Leonard M HawkesBeyond Wadsworth,
Beyond the Truckee
The land lies
Thin skinned and shriveled
Like a sun dried corpse:
Bones protruding,
Blackened by primordial Fire.
Surrealistically
The lake lies turquoise
Amongst it:
Life potential stunted,
Commemorated with weathered stones,
Wind driven and
Lapping, lapping, lapping. 07/14/2004
