Love at First (And all Over Again) by Trisha De GraciaI want to swim into you
and explore your capacity to feel
to see
and to taste...
To hear how your words curve off
lips so smooth and so sweet.
I swear
your hands could bring me to shore
from the worst of all storms.
You could send me-
or send me away.
It makes no mark on the beautiful, permanent scar
you've inflicted
(willing or not)
I succumbed to these bouts
these overdue sighs and the never goodbyes.
And just when I think
I can't love like this
not ever again
and not any harder
I fall for you
(your sweet caresses turning the dusk into day,
your smiled fixed in the dim lamp light).
My words trip and fumble and bounce.
-We're not logical.
Smiles have wept and have sighed.
-You've been quizzical.
Through all this aching
regretting and breaking
you seem to collect all my fragments
and scrap me together
-tell me I'm beautiful 'til I remember
and damn it if I dont believe every word that you say.
You've regained me this way
and I'll never turn back.
