Silver Tongue

by Kimberly Bare

a silver tongue
that drips pleasantries
effortlessly
as rain falling

glittering words
that shine my smile
and melt as molten metal
against my skin

a smoldering gaze
that quickens
into flashing ice
when angered

suddenly as
springtime showers
transform to deadly storms

that silver tongue
can wield the sharpest sword
