If there is to be Singing

by Alison McKenzie

If there is to be singing,
I want to belt it out!
Unison and harmonies and discords
Majors moving to minors moving back to major 7th augmented
Chords,
Wrapping and twisting around themselves,
Vibrations actualized in music.

I want rhythm!
Frame quaking in the downbeats,
Heart swept in the ups,
Feet moving,
Those members of antipodal independence,
Taking me along for the ride
Just for good measure.
Crescendos and Andantes,
Becoming one with the waves.

Oh, but to be a symphony of one?
The very nature of music needs more.
Even unison requires two.
And yet beauty in solo does reside
For here am I.

There is nothing quite so tranquil as a solo performer practicing their music. It has a way of putting all the demons away. I watched my daughter do exactly that many times.

It better be the hallelujah chorus then. And I'm with you all the way! I just love singing with my family - dad sings bass, Mum alto, bro tenor - fitting the voices just so is mind blowing to be part of. I love rchestral playing and being 2nd violin for the same resons too

If there is to be singing, then I want to hear the tune...beautifully done and what a message. Music is so healing!
