i looked at a picture of us
and you looked so happy
by my side, with our shoulders touching
and i brought the picture to my lips to kiss that
happy boy
but i remembered that he's somewhere else
and deep down
he isn't happy

i've learned a lot from
all we've been through
from nights i spent
laughing into your ear, or
cutting your hair, or
just wishing that we'd live this way
forever

i remember every moment when you'd say
"you are the most wonderful thing in my life"
and i wish i could take each of those five minute truths
and live in them, playing on repeat

but we've grown so much over these months
i mean, the truth is that
you've been so many flavors to me
between your raspberry maybe's, cherrybomb yes's
and all those tasteless no's
