cocunut rum

by Ginette T Belle

i love
empty days
filled with banal overtones
a whole weekend filled
is a red-letter treat
and i spend days
without a paddle in hand
it's tricky - yes
but i think i've gotten the hang of it

this warm evening is the smell of pablum
on a dingy silver spoon
my father's voice swirling with the mosquitos
and cocunut rum in plastic cup
it's a long shot (i tell you)
but it ain't far from the truth..

I love your ramblings... they always lead and guide to the most interesting places. Much love to you and the awesome language use and images.
