When are you coming home?

by Lori I Wolfe

When the sky is blue

That’s when I think of you

You light up the darkest of nights

When are you coming home?

I walked along the beach today

Feeling the sand below my feet

The waters cooled my skin

Breathing in the warm breeze

Children laughed and sang

Songs of carefree

A dog splashed and played

While running into the sea

Thoughts of us flowing with the tide

Consumed my aching heart

Wishing that you were by my side

And not so far apart

When the stars appear

That’s when I think of you

You light my darkest of dreams

When are you coming home?

When are you coming home ...

I miss your smile

Your loving soul

Oh God please come home

I never meant to hurt you

I never meant those words

I never meant for you to leave

Please come back to me

I walked along the beach tonight

Silent within nights sounds

Feeling the emptiness of the sea

You’re no where to be found

My eyes rained a storm of memories

Wishing you by my side

Pain floods the depth of my soul

I run but can not hide

My pillow’s stained with your scent

My dreams hunt me so

I need you back into my life

Please... oh please don’t go

When the sky is blue

That’s when I think of you

You light up the darkest of nights

When are you coming home?

Very good poem. The repetition really brings out the urgency of the message.
