Something Harder Than Words

by Aaron Blair

I don't wear black. I'm the
sort of pale, Irish girl for whom
pastels were invented, the
better to be a simpering
cotton-candy vision of what
female is supposed to be.
I'll cop to that, the urge to
wrap myself in pretty, do
my best Molly Ringwald.
I won't be pegged, though.
If you're going to thrust
anything into me, make it
something harder than words.

ha! "something harder than words". Now that is sheer poetry (pastels indeed!) You shifted gears and left pastel pettiness in the dust. Looks good on ya.

Yikes! (but in a positive way). I'm a coward but would love to get the courage. I'm definitely wearing pastels still. lol.
