i miss our sleep

by Emily G Myers

what i miss most
are the moments at night
when i drank in the feel
of the curve of your spine
they just don't understand
your hair brushing my chin
when you sleep in my arms
the way your neck smells when
in it i bury my face demurely
your hand resting
on the round of my hip
or how impossibly soft your lips can be
i disregard the cliche
there is nothing hackneyed in your kiss
these are the things i miss most
how easily your eyes close
the calm and soft of your breath
and how peaceful my sleep
when paired with yours

"the calm and soft of your breath" mmmmmm There is a place I could rest. This just resonates with those peaceful moments, which can be found even in the most difficult relationships. Beautiful!
