The Inferno by James ZealyI've lived a personal inferno
Tainted by a loved one's indescretion
Begging for a chance to appease
The lack of personal connection
And I sacrificed pride to survive
Both personal, and financial
To save what was left
Times 5
Yet as I watched with dismay
The interpersonal destruction
Of trust with our three
I contemplated why did we?
At times, it seems
We soured our dreams
Destroyed our sanity
Burned a dark path to misery
Yet we are still a family
Fighting to make some sense
Of this life long crusade
To make a difference
To make a legacy
That surpasses the insanity
And leaves some semblance of self respect
For what we tried to project
The battle is raging
To make right what was not
Despite the mistakes
That time forgot
Our life is like a slow moving river
Veering ever so slightly together
Creating a path
That we can only see looking back
Yet Hope still lives
That we can overcome
The past we have made
To taste at last, the right way 06/25/2004
Author's Note: Life is never easy. But sometimes it seems the battle becomes all consuming. But we can never give up can we? That is the philosophical question. This my first new piece in a while, the others I posted are some of my past work. I hope you enjoy it.
