Inspired (for the Sylvia Plath June Contest)

by Kimberly Bare

Windswept into
waiting sky,
shadows play past
the stars in his eyes.

Watching from towers
over sleepy towns,
secretly smiling
as so many frown.

Wishing on stardust
to blow on through
and carry them on
to someplace new.

This sleepy town,
a fantasy land,
created by his
magical hand.

Wonder if they
could ever tell
that hope rose up
where these stars fell?
