remembering summer

mudslides,

happy at 3 in the morning
Elvis smiled on us all
with green apple vodka
cooling in the freezer
& I was picked on
everyday
by a German man
but it's ok cause
Mya & I went to Hawaii
in our hearts this morning
& sometimes I'm a part of
the Diaspora
by virtue of nodding along
Ashley the second understands
& I get stepped on
everyday
by big tropical bugs
mosquitoes or roaches
& I make a million phone calls
to my heart
from my heart
popping pills when I cry
but it's ok cause
there will always be
ice cream cones,
cappuccinoes,
mudslides,
movies,
& cooling green apple vodka
when Mya & I go to Hawaii in our hearts 06/10/2004
Author's Note: yes, I was hot here in Statesboro. yes, I missed Eric like crazy. yes, I wanted to be home relaxing. but I had an amazing, enlightening time these six weeks, and this is a tribute to my favorite memories. I want to keep them, and this is the best way I know how.
