Hourglass by Scott Cadence
Tomorrow becomes tonight
And last week lingers for Redemption
Santa Fe has come and gone
We have drove, flown, the distance -
Our only souvenirs are welling in our chest
With the few laughs had
Before bed
As to recall - inside
The things we said
And perhaps in the same token
There is a sadness that settles into my rest
in things we didnt say, didnt do, planned
Time is open with opportunity
As it is equally unforgiving,
Quick setting like concrete with our initials in it
I can only hope we get it right,
Because you can feel the other side shudder
When we get it wrong
When our mouths become wordsmiths
Hammered and heated the exactness of each cut -
I know how to regret
I know what kind of magic it takes
To get through the fine-tuning of my heart
The endless filters of my mind
I respect the journey you took
In a world where every mans love
Starts out in himself -
I see how a true love
Divides him,
Reserves patience
Like yours
to make him see it differently
