words before death

by Wendy Geal

sapphire scars you give me
wept with kisses and clenched teeth
the strumming of blood is rushing round
your veins like lava
pumping- swirling,
and sweet emerge
shut your eyes, love
and i will dissever
as you hold your breath and
blow me sweetly away

Author's Note: Revised from an earlier poem. ...last words to a dying love...
