Juxtaposition by Amanda J CobbSunset
with treetops speeding by
and millions of people
traveling the ribbons of roadway,
oblivious to the varied destinations
aimed for all around them.
Above the scurry and the chaos
float masses of spun sugar
and whipped cream,
wisps of forgotten fairytales
scattered across the darkening vault
in shades and tints
from my favorite part of the crayon box,
bright corals mixing indiscriminately
with royal lavenders
and the palest of periwinkles.
It made me think of you.
You would have known
exactly how I felt. 05/31/2004 Author's Note: Revised 6-2-2004

Posted by Alison McKenzie on 06/15/04 at 01:16 PM Wow. Very descriptive; wonderfully imaginable! But above all the description, I love where you say, "You would have known exactly how I felt". For some reason it gives a whole new twist to the poem. |
