The Firefly Love

by Deanna M Gritsonis

With the waves lapping
The night sky as our blanket
The sand our bed
I made more than love to you.

Your kisses were addiction
Your touch my obsession
But I truly pined for you.

Oh but this was the firefly love
The love that only us knew
A love that made me truly want all of you

To hear you talk of passion
Of wanting nothing but goodness
Oneness and truth

The firefly love in the stoned smoky night
Of laughter and thoughts
To the holding on tight

Isn’t wasn’t till that last embrace
I realize the lose
Of you

And in the firefly love
It was Ming’s Wok
It was a true love fortune cookie

It was fire
Poetry
Friendship

And now basking in thought
The company of friends not enough
I stood alone my view of the freshly rained on night

The firefly’s danced
My memories their partners
And as there glowing wonders flicker
So did our love

For the firefly love
Now chokes my heart
Trying to part
