a stiff, somber word
that summarizes my experience of love

through the telephone
you tell me the most painful of truths
and every word of yours hits me
like a drum
and rings in me

i remember your luminous eyes looking at me saying
"i wish you felt the same"
my eyes have now acquired that duty
to you

i have made many mistakes in my life
but loving you was not one of them
