he directs an inquisitive glance towards me and he smiles.
from the opposite corner of the room, i gesticulate that ill be with him in a moment.
coming over, i tie my arms around his neck and pull him close.
sometimes i think
he lives for these moments.
sometimes i think i do, too
but i wouldnt let him know that.
i ask him how life is and he assimilates my question,
wondering whether to be honest or polite.
[the couch had spots where the insides were coming out
and it was covered in patches that didnt match the original fabric.
i ran my fingers across the seams of the unmatching cloth and sat next to him.
tonight i am this couch, and i refuse to let my insides be revealed.]
i lay my head on his shoulder because i'm sleepy tonight.
he shifts his body tremulously.
sometimes i forget how misleading i can be.
a proven theory: when someone is in love with you, you can never make the right decision.
