on old bones

by Betania Tesch

i.
you move on old bones
tough sinew pulling
knots apart
and together
we fall
through each other
catching the sicksweet
taste of old blood
turned brown
with the wear
of ten thousand
secrets kept
ten thousand
burdens beared

ii.
I want to tenderize you
and pull you
to pieces
slip you in my mouth
and suck out the
flavor of old age
of stopped tears
of a world too long known
and leave the sweetness.

iii.
The morning will come again
a sea of purple flowing
over the filth of yesterday
washing you in light
filling your bones
with warmth
and bearing you again
on fresh beams.
