mayday by Jolie JordanLike a war plane -
set on completing it's mission,
you dropped a bomb into my stomach,
blowing apart my already-blistered system.
And I apprehensively called to you,
watching on as you soared away
worried that the fact that my chest was blooming into the pavement
and my bones were split in places they shouldn't
might be a sign that the worst was still to come.
But lying there frothing at the mouth,
I noticed how luminescent the sky was
and if somehow my insides should fail me,
right here, right now,
at least my last breath
could be taken staring up,
at a vast amount of the brillant atmosphere. 05/26/2004 Posted on 05/26/2004 Copyright © 2025 Jolie Jordan
