Iceberg

by Richard Vince

The eyes stare incessantly…
There’s something there
But I can’t see it yet

Maybe I’m too close
And if I try to be close
I’ll be further away
And see…

I feel an emptiness…
But one that is filled
With a need to express
A weakness that hides deep strength

She’s an iceberg
But I don’t want to sink…
Merely to see
What lies beneath
But all I see is the ocean
And that drowns her…

Maybe she stares at me
Because she knows I could release her…
Or maybe out of hatred
For her confinement
Which I wish was not there…

Or maybe she’s lost
And searches incessantly for a way…

But there is only one way…
And it will find her.
