Memorial Day

by Charles M Harrison

In her hand a mother holds
a picture of her son.
Killed so many years ago
by a snipers gun.
A little child remembers
the father she never knew.
Killed before she was born,
she cries too.
All those young men's dreams
that will never be fulfilled.
They are buried with them now
on a cemetery hill.
Do you weep,
for those lost men,
Sons, husbands,
fathers and friends.
It could be your mother,
crying over you.
It could be your child
calling someone else daddy too.
Pray for these men,
pray and remember well.
They must surely be in heaven,
for they have already been through hell.
Remember what it cost them,
remember it this May.
Thank the Lord for these men
on this Memorial Day.

Very well written, it tears me up.
