Limbo Land

by Charles M Harrison

As the sun fades with each hour,
in a crowd I am yet alone.
There is only one desire that I possess.
Oh how I want to be home.
Another evening comes and we are apart,
tho I long to be by your side.
No matter the smile on my face
within my true feelings hide.
I laugh and joke with counterparts
trapped in this limbo land.
While within we endure the time
till the last moment is at hand.
Our children's tantrums you must face alone,
until at last weary they sleep.
Apart I must be; from you all,
for a promise made I must keep.
I hope for your safety and well being,
and for your comfort and care.
I pray for the moment that I see you,
when I can at last be there.
I go through the hours away from you
with a laden heart,
And long for the day to at last come
when we shall never part.
