Ode to Self (Disgust)

by Alison McKenzie

Merciful someone
Take the gauze from my eyes
Blackened by filth of lies (in)
Ode to self
Or flies, I don’t know which
Luster is gone now
Faded from one too many
Spit shines
Nubbins to a dull roar
Divination smothered
In the hot searing
Air of deceit(ful)
Ode to self
I ache
Relentless torment
Of self inflicted
Hot oil dip
Oozing from pores
Wide open
Skies rain down
Lightning quick
Flash of brilliance
Thunder fumbling for words

Splatter shot images that visually impact the reader with pictures and raw emotion. Strong language that lingers with the reader. Great read.

Brilliant wordplay and language, and as others have said, there is a raw quality to the images and emotions conveyed that is much more geniune and effective than what something more structured or restrained my have to offer. Your pen is a direct conduit from your heart.
