Regrets by Holly H Dunne
I hacked apart those golden strings
That laced our souls together
Wrenched my heart from your embrace
And broke the most beautiful thing I ever had
I murdered something that was not meant to die
And I see its ghost reflected everywhere I look
Haunting me with its silent song
Of what might have been
And in commiting that terrible crime
My regret gave birth to a gremlin, now living in my core
Gnawing on my emotions, diseasing every feeling
And I know that I will never, could never, love again.
