So I guess this is goodbye... by Amy NiggelToday we woke to sun streaming
and birds singing
and nearly as many fears as family members descending.
We look at each other
and see for the first time
the adults who have replaced the children
time moved so quickly
we learned so much
grew up somehow
even though we thought we already were grown ups.
Tomorrow we'll part ways
not for the three months we're used to,
but for something more permenant.
Our little world is expanding
the bubble is popping,
and we scatter to the four winds.
So how do we do this guys?
how do we look at each other
and not cry,
and hug
and make promises we don't know if we can keep,
and say those infamous words.
it isn't going to be "see you later" this time,
I guess this really is goodbye. 05/21/2004 Author's Note: Dedicated to my roommates first and foremost, and to all my friends here at RIT. Graduation is always a bittersweet event. I keep telling myself that I'm not going to cry, unfortunately my stupid eyes won't listen to me. You know, I really am going to miss this place....
