The girl in the blue Ford Ranger... by J. P. DaviesShe doesn't see me anymore.
All she sees is the pain
I caused when I turned away.
So when I wave from the sidewalk,
and she just rolls her eyes.
Can I blame her?
The girl I was in love with...
doesn't exist anymore.
I replaced her with one
who can't stand to meet my eyes.
So when she can't bring herself
to call or drop a line.
Can you blame her?
She'll keep driving,
because it still hurts
to meet my eyes
when I smile.
But can you blame me? 05/20/2004 Author's Note: A challenge from Trish to write exactly what I mean and not make it abstract or metaphorical.

Posted by Maureen Glaude on 05/20/04 at 10:27 PM Written with wisdom - this really happens. perfectly portrayed. I like how you take the question from the first person through to the third. It is clear and non-metaphorical, but poetic. |

Posted by Trisha De Gracia on 05/27/04 at 12:39 AM Very raw, and yet with the Jord-esque ending it's still you underneath there writing it. I think you're alot more vulnerable when you write it right out like this, and that vulnerability is something we can all relate to. |
