Reduction

by Scott Cadence

A man tried to reduce me today
To a word –
I must admit I felt anger
Dormant
Rise up into my veins

I felt the primal nature of war
Remove all logic

There are things
I would have made of his face
So unique
My fist would have been remembered
As an artist

I couldn’t believe
How much power I’ve given
To words,
Because it’s easier
to wrap our minds around them -
To label
To pretend to know something substantial
And worth saying -
Could I conquer your nation with it?

In the highest and lowest places
Are where men find their sense of power –
And where ever they shall reach
My foundation will not shake from it –
I am the father of new definitions
Your intentions will bleed out of them
And ignorance will remain

Well-articulated truth said with emotion and conviction. Great read that speaks for itself.
