It's a Dog's Life

by James Zealy

Get Fed
Sleep all day
Play and cuddle to keep their humans demons away
It's a dog's life

Bark at strangers
Pretend to be the house protector
Bravely back under a table
It's a dog's life

Cookie, cookie where is the cookie
Rewards for good babies
Conning their owners into a treat
It's a dog's life

Sleep curled in an arm
The non speaking comfort of utter devotion
Family members as dear as any other
It's a dog's life

Senses anguish knows the need
Soothes and cares with Godspeed
A companion when no one else cares
It's a dog's life

As I reflect on a dog's existence
No work, just play and subsistence
Being a dog could be all right
As long as my human is trained right
It's a dog's life

They are amazing creatures, aren't they? I laugh at my cats... what a rough life they have. Lucky devils....

'A companion when no one else cares,' yes thats what dog is all about, besides, the only being who could give his life for you.
