Unforecasted by Christel Crews
The thunder looms
in the overcast skies
as rain begins to gently fall
A break in the clouds
electricity connects heaven to earth
on the horizon, a storm brews
The rain sings on the rooftop
and creates miniature rivers
along the pavement
Alone I sit, at the window
tracing drops down the pane
thinking of you and what we lost
Rising to leave, pass the umbrella
I will not need it today
no shoes, I step out to join the rain
Lifting my face I feel
moisture run down my cheek
today nature bears my pain
05/09/2004 Author's Note: there was an unexpected rain the other day and it seemed to put me in a pensive mood... and this is what came out
