You Can't Fool Me by Jane E PearceWhere are you Mom-
on some ethereal plane,
where you can hide around corners,
seen in the eyes' periphery?
Where are you Mom-
waiting for my step-
arms outstretched,
and waving away the 34 years?
Where are you but here,
at your granddaughters' weddings,
at your great grandchildrens' births,
holding them in your chiffon arms,
and crooning my old lullaby.
You can't fool me-you are here-
Happy Mother's day.

| Posted by JD Clay on 05/10/04 at 01:36 AM WOW! Just like she never left. I feel her presence too, in my lazy language, bad habits, and every time something bakes in the oven. Yeah, she'll be with us a long time, sweet Jane, just like this reflective poem. Happy Day to both of you.
