I'm Not Over Her Yet

by Thomas K. Hunt

There were tears in mine
The last time I saw those eyes
Now the smallest signs
Lead me back in time

I don’t need to remember
I can’t seem to forget
It’s been more than a lifetime
I’m not over her yet

Little things now send me
Things I only know
The scent of her jasmine
Making angels in the snow

An autumn breeze on a star filled night
The shine on her nose in the warm summer light
Her whispers of my name still echo in space
The heat of my life when I kissed her face

Everyday it is my living
This want and this regret
She’s a thought that passes by
I’m not over her yet

Hi Thomas, A very good piece or work. Yes, it's hard to get over a love. It takes time. Then we have to move on with life. Been there. Yes, there's always something to remind us.

I could actually hear music playing softly as I read this, it reads like a song... Funny isn't it, just when you think it's okay, that you have moved on something will trigger your memory and it is as if time turns back. I really think this would make a lovely song, you have a way of touching heart and soul with your writing.

'the smallest signs Lead me back in time'. The associatedness with those 'signs' are capable of transporting us back in those memories we have lived and relived time and again. And these associations shall never die. They can only be neutralized by winning the associations. The associations here seems scattered every where and intense. And they are emotional.
