Accidents Happen

by Jacki M Butler

Twenty one now

I stand at this grave

Nine years ago today

I am brought back to twelve

When I first heard the news

Suddenly I am in a church

Two coffins make the way out the door

This cemetary filled with people

A hand touches my shoulder

I am jolted back to today

Nine years later

Looking at the grave

There are still so many flowers there

Such a tragic event to happen

So now I come here every year

And still it makes no sense

Nine years later and you are still gone.
