::echoes of transient souls:: by Bethany Lee
yesterday, the trees were in blossom.
now,
in the single motion
of a hummingbird's wing,
an individual, unique existence -
exists no more.
but the birds continue to sing.
the earth still revolves
as earthquakes shatter its shell,
as my dear friend loses
her first quasi child.
your brother's birthday,
is his bestfriend's deathday.
what a way to put a raincloud overhead.
'do you know what the cause of death was?'
in response:
'do you know what the cause of life is?'
