your gift to me

by William P Strucke

you will never know what joy you bring me,
just seeing you know who I am.
it's not only that, but you sent me a note,
a moment of your life, just for mine.
though I can't see you, and you might not even care,
though you're at a distance and will likely stay there,
I know in my heart that (even) decades from now -
this old message from you will make me smile.

[and that smile isn't consigned to my lips,
my cheeks, my eyes, or my face...
it's something inside I can't replicate, in my soul -

in my heart -

in my life.]

Those who really touch us are usually kept in the heart. And the mind drags them out every once in a while just keep the heart alive. Nice write William.
