Tea 3 - The Rise of the Cat

by Mary Ellen Smith

“Ah dearie, what a nice surprise!
I really can’t believe my eyes!
Its been so long since we had tea,
So glad that you bumped into me!
Come with me and I will make
A delicious, teatime coffee cake.
Yes, my Damn cat has missed you too
No, no…he never hissed at you.”

What’s that my dear? My Damn cat has fleas?
Oh sorry dear…yes, damn allergies?
You’re allergic to my cat?
Well! I never imagined that.
I didn’t see you ever sneeze
Ever cough or even wheeze.
But never mind all that for now
Here he comes to join us…”
“MEOW”

“Yes of course I let him out.
Now, now my dear no need to shout.
How dare you call my cat deranged!
Besides he told me he has changed.
Why just the other day he said
Over tea and jam and bread
He wants to be gentler and kinder
And all he needs is a reminder.”

“Well then I guess I understand
Meeting us just wasn’t planned.
Perhaps next week you’ll come to call?
Don’t mind that dear, just a hair ball.
Those shoes are new? Why they aren’t wrecked
He didn’t mean to disrespect.
Oh dear! I’ll get him. There you go.
He stole your shoe and bit your toe?

Oh my goodness! Turn around.
I’m the only one can get him down
You know how it is with us cat lovers.
Hmmm...Let me know when that recovers.
Oh my. Well, well, she sure can run
But seeing her was lots of fun.
Come now my dearie. It’s getting late
I’ll fix you up a tuna plate.”

The cat series is so much fun, still has me laughing. It seems a cat will always go to someone that hates cats. Maybe the cat gets even that way......Charlie

This is simply wonderful. Its so funny the way you write it, as your having tea, I love cats, they are so unpredictable and so darn cute. I can never stay mad at them.
