Epi-Centered by Laura DoomIn a blaze of anonimity
a pariah reactivates her soul,
parades her lifeless packaging,
praying she was put here
for some purpose other than filling
an implausible space.
In time, her life tapers
to a fixed point of levity
piercing the palliative mantle of gravity.
Singularly plain, devoid of contour
subsumed by a featureless film
of visual reversion...
an illusory plateau to climb.
The world prostrates itself
at her asymmetrical feet;
the horizon disappears,
consumed by a blazing sunset
ignorant of its own publicity.
Her failed vision micturates freely;
long may it rain. 04/13/2004 Posted on 04/13/2004 Copyright © 2024 Laura Doom

Posted by Rula Shin on 04/13/04 at 07:02 PM What a wonderfully flowing poem with alliteration that just blew my mind in its subtle lavishness, "pariah…parades…lifeless packaging…praying…for some purpose…piercing the palliative mantle…featureless film” – very well done, your word choices/combinations are very refreshing and add so much 'color' and continuity to the fluid motion of this poem. Oh, and great author's note too by the way :-) |
